EMS - EUROPEAN MONETARY SYSTEM
Европейская валютная система (ЕВС): организация, созданная в 1979 г. странами-членами ЕЭС для поддержания стабильности взаимных курсов валют, усиления координации экономической политики развития региональной торговли; основные элементы ЕВС: ЭКЮ, центральные курсы и ограничение взаимных курсообразований ± 2,25% (6% для итал. лиры) с помощью официальных валютных интервенций, Европейский фонд валютного сотрудничества. ЕВС - преемница валютной системы ряда западноевропейских стран, известной под названием “валютной змеи” (Snake), предусматривавшей скоординированное плавание валютных курсов относительно доллара США. Введение ЕВС в действие сопровождалось ревальвацией западногерманской марки
